Hello everyone,

I am very excited to be writing my first newsletter contribution under our new branding and following our website launch (we are so happy to have unleashed our website www.wearethirdspace.org).

Thank you for taking the time to open this email and read about Thirdspace - I’m sending you warm greetings from my home in London and am moved to write about the role of poetry in our lives as a community of integral development practitioners.

They say that there’s no end to how present we can be, no end to how open we can be and I believe that there’s no end to how warmed and softened our hearts can be. And so often poetry brings me to this gentle space of deepening and feeling which is always, for me, a way of settling my nervous system and opening up to life a little more.

Here’s a beautiful poem about accepting what comes in our inner world. Whether it’s new to you or you have read it before, I believe this poem is one that keeps on giving:

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

 Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks

If you enjoy poetry and other sources of inspiration, our Journal has many wonderful entries that are always available to you. In addition, our weekly broadcast and podcast ‘Turning Towards Life’ is a (so far) never ending collection of the poetry, readings and books we love at Thirdspace.

You can find us on Facebook here (you can listen live every Sunday morning at 9am UK time or catch up whenever you have time): www.facebook.com/groups/turningtowardslife and on Spotify as a podcast here: https://spoti.fi/2Zegl7f.

Sending out much love,

on behalf of us all at Thirdspace - Amanda, Justin, Lizzie, Neena and Sue
