Our individuality is never of more value than when it's brought in contribution to the communities around us, writes Victor Frankl in 'Yes to Life In Spite of Everything'. It's a commitment that matters to us greatly in Thirdspace, and this month we're thrilled to announce the opening of two new communities of learning, open to everyone, which have Frankl's invitation at their heart.

It's our sense that one of the great calls of this moment in history is each of us finding ways in which we can dedicate ourselves to something bigger than the individuality that's so prized by our times and that so easily leaves us feeling isolated from one another. Can we instead turn the uniqueness that belongs to each of us towards the flourishing of the human communities and organisations of which we are each a part?

'Coaching for Development', is a fully accredited coach training programme for anyone in an organisational role who wants to find a way to be a direct and skilful support to others in their development and flourishing. It is designed to support you to use coaching methods as the foundation of trusting relationships, powerful mutual commitments and skilful conversations. The programme takes place in a number of sessions over 6 months and starts in early November 2022. 

'Essential Self-Leadership' is a two-part programme for anyone who leads at any scale who wants to find ways to bring themselves to this commitment with wisdom, resourcefulness, dignity and creativity – whether that’s in an organisational setting, in national-scale leadership, in a family, because they've taken up a role in a community that they care about, or who intend to  bring a new idea, possibility, cause or work of art into the world. It begins with a three day Part 1 'Understanding our Essential Selves and Inner Family of Parts' from May 25th-27th 2022, followed by four monthly practice groups and Part 2 'Leading from Essential Self' in November.

Both programmes can be joined from anywhere in the world as we'll host them online, drawing on our deep expertise using Zoom, Slack and other supporting technologies to connect, teach and learn together in community with dignity, joy and integrity.

As Frankl goes on to explain, there's an ancient motto from Hillel, a founder of the Talmud more than 2000 years ago, which is just the invitation needed for our times:

"If I do not do it, who else will?" ... 'If not I' is the uniqueness of each person.

"But if I do it only for me, who am I then?" 

... The gift of our uniqueness is most full and satisfying when it's brought in service of others.

"And if I do not do it now, when will I do it?" 

... There is no time to wait, as the world depends upon us stepping in.
